The appeal of music videos to audiences

Music videos are there to engage the audience to the song and the artist, it provides visuals that the audience can enjoy while listening to a song. The audience a video would attract depends on the artist, song and context. If a video was about a love story it’s more likely to attract females than males. Certain music videos try to appeal to a wider audience but at the same time they have to try not to exclude their target audience. A music video can bias peoples view on the actual song and the artist themselves. If an individual likes the video they are more likely to become a fan of the singer and the song. Some people would wait for a music video to come out for a song that they like but the majority of the time the music video (found on YouTube) would be the first time they would have heard of the song. Therefore the video must catch the audience’s attention to get them to listen to the whole song and purchase it.
