Throughout my AS production of the thriller opening, there were many practical aspects, such as using cameras for filming and other equipment. However, the most difficult stage was the planning and research. i found that without the research, our thriller opening will not have been very successful. This is because our understanding of the codes and conventions of the industry, which at the time was the film industry, would have been limited.
In this instance, the challenge of approaching research is crucial, as with a little time already on research has instantly given a challenging task. therefore, using skills from last year, I have managed to identify good research using the right resources.
For instance, last year, nearly all the research was done on the internet, as we analysed many videos that could be accessed on YouTube. Using the computers, we could take screen shots and analyse still images of the video to help us to film properly, using the right codes and conventions. So far, we have learnt many different codes and conventions of music videos so far with much more to do, and similar analysis using YouTube has come to be very helpful.
Another research that was conducted was to do with the locations, appropriate timing and suitable places etc. To do this, we had to go out as a group and using flip cameras, we took pictures of the locations and planned out how our filming process will be set up through analysis of the pictures taken. Choosing locations was difficult, but i have adapted to the difficulty to now understand this type of research easy.
There were other types of research that we did, but all the research was then put into practice within the stages of creating to the end of our final product. so as well as researching for our project, we will need good enough research to apply to our planning and production. As I am aware of this, I am prepared to take on extensive research like last year to achieve successfully .
