The album i researched is 'bright lights' from the arist Ellie Goulding.
Front cover of the Digipack |
Although the cover is rather fancy, the simplicity is what inspired me the most.
It consists of four things:
- The artists name which is shown in a large simple font
- The album name, smaller than the artists name but also using a simple font
- The close up picture of the artist
- The colour scheme which is used in the effects.
These four elements are what make the cover stand out. The font of both artist name and album name are simple, using simlar colours to match the theme of the cover. it is placed near the middle of the cover which is unusual as it is usually placed on the top or bottom of the cover. However, it is effectively done considering that it does not overlap the artists face and it stands out in the centre. The picture is clear, and it can be very easy to identify the artist from the picture even though she is not looking directly at the camera. The colour theme is not too flashy, sticking to the yellow type of theme with flickering lights. The flickering lights are an effect that can be over used, but in this instance is used perfectly. Itrelates to the title of the album 'Bright Lights'

How this will help me in my production
The name of the album that we have produced is called Lights, similar to Ellie Gouldings. the effect of flickering lights on the digipack is the same idea that i had when planning my digipack. I wanted to have a simple but colourful and effective approach towards the production of my digipack and this example of Ellie Gouldings album is the best example that can inspire me for my Digipack.
Furthermore, the advertisement is simple, with a small amount of text and a close up picture of the artist. I also have a similar approach to this. However, Ellie goulding's advertisement does not have much similarities to the digipack apart from the font. My idea for my advertisement was to continue the theme of flickering lights and use a picture where our artists would look directly at the camera.
